Chiropractic is an easy to understand science.

The brain controls and coordinates all body function.  Think of it this way, if you severe the brain/body connection at the base of the skull, death is instantaneous.  Therefore the brain is literally responsible for life.  Now if you were to go farther down the spine and severe a nerve where it exits the spine, wherever that nerve goes, dies.

When there are twists and kinks in the spine (subluxations), they choke off the nerves.  Wherever those nerves go to, cannot be functioning properly.

Chiropractors restore health through the process of adjusting the spine to reduce the pressure on the nerves.  This then allows your body's innate intelligence to heal you by restoring normal physiological function.

So why is it that it works great for some people and not so great for others?

Chart - Meninges

The Simple Story

There is a covering to the brain and spinal cord.  It is king of like a second skin inside you just to protect the central nervous system.  It is called the meninges.  It is attached inside your skull and at the base of the spine (coccyx) and pretty much floats in between.  Traumas cause scar tissue to form and contract the meninges just like cuts cause a scar to form in the skin that contracts the skin to seal the cut.

When this occurs it causes the spine to compress, kind of like there where screws at the top and bottom and you tightened them.  This compression causes the spine to buckle and kink (subluxate).

Chiropractors have been adjusting these kinks (subluxations) for over one hundred years.  In fact if you have been to a chiropractor before he/she probably took x-rays to show you the kinks (subluxations).

Problem is, if another set of x-rays are taken at a later date, there is not likely to be any demonstrable improvement.

The kinks don't go away even though you may feel better because the compression is still being applied.  Advanced Biostructural Correction has come up with a way to stretch the meninges.  This allows the spine to expand and release the inner compression.

The second aspect of Advanced Biostructural Correction is that the bones of the spine only go out of place in the one direction your body cannot self correct.  That direction is forward because there are no muscles directly behind them to pull with.

A meningeal release ,or stretch, is utilized to relax the internal tension on the spine and central nervous system.  Then gentle adjustments are performed.

Through a course of treatment, the spine relaxes and expands to its normal height and structure.  Yes, most people see an increase in height, just look at our before and after pictures.  To the patient this means the reduction and elimination of aches and pains, restoration of normal body function and an impressive improvement of their quality of life.

Despite considerable evidence that posture affects physiology and function, the significant influence of posture on health is not addressed by most physicians.

Observation of the striking influence of postural mechanics on function and symptomatology have led to our hypothesis that posture affects and moderates every physiologic function from breathing to normal hormonal production.  Spinal pain, headache, mood, blood pressure, pulse, and lung capacity are among the functions most easily influenced by posture.  The most significant influences of posture are upon respiration, oxygenation, and sympathetic function.  Ultimately, it appears that homeostasis and autonomic regulation are intimately connected with posture.  The corollary these observations that many symptoms, including pain, maybe moderated or eliminated by improved posture.
